Colorado is Opening the Doors to Psilocybin Assisted Therapy

Safe, supported, and legal psilocybin therapy is coming soon

— offering new possibilities for growth and healing.

A New Era of Healing is on the Horizon

In 2022, Colorado voters said yes to a new era of healing—and things are starting to take shape. With the passing of Proposition 122, psilocybin assisted therapy is on its way to becoming legally available at licensed healing centers across the state. The first doors are expected to open in spring or summer 2025, and applications are already rolling in for facilitators, healing centers, and cultivation sites.

For adults 21 and up, this is a big deal. We’re moving beyond the limitations of traditional talk therapy and into a future where healing can be deeper, more embodied, and (dare I say) a little more magical. Psilocybin offers a legal, structured, and supported path to transformation—making Colorado one of just two states (shoutout to Oregon) leading the way.

And while ketamine-assisted therapy is already legal throughout the U.S., Colorado’s state-regulated psychedelic therapy program is starting with psilocybin. Down the road, it may expand to include other medicines like DMT, ibogaine, and mescaline — opening up even more possibilities for those who feel called to a different kind of healing journey.

Preparation — this stage lays the foundation for the work. It’s where you build connection and trust with your therapist, clarify your intentions, and prep your nervous system for what’s to come. You’ll get clear on what you want from the experience—and what might get stirred up along the way.

The Journey — the psychedelic session takes place in a safe, supportive environment. Many choose to wear an eye mask, listen to calming music, and turn inward. The experience can surface emotions, memories, or realizations that have long been buried. Sessions typically last 6–8 hours and often bring unexpected clarity or healing.

Integration — this is where insight becomes change. In the days and weeks that follow, clients have space to process what came up, reflect on its meaning, and begin weaving those insights into daily life. Psychedelics can open new neural pathways—this phase helps anchor those shifts into lasting change.

PSILOCYBIN THERAPY IN COLORADO

Psychedelic assisted therapy isn’t your average talk-it-out approach.

It’s a transformative process that weaves together traditional therapeutic support with the profound, perspective-shifting insights that can emerge from a guided psychedelic experience.

This work isn’t just about taking a substance like psilocybin or ketamine. It’s about creating the right internal and external conditions for meaningful, lasting change.

The process unfolds in three distinct phases: preparation, the journey, and integration.

What is Psychedelic Assisted Therapy?

PSYCHEDELIC THERAPY COLORADO

Ancient Wisdom. Modern Medicine. Real Transformation.

Psilocybin has been part of human history for thousands of years. Indigenous cultures across the Americas have long worked with these sacred mushrooms, calling them names like teonanácatl—“flesh of the gods.”

They saw them as sacred allies. Tools for healing. Pathways to insight, clarity, and a profound connection to something greater than ourselves.

That wisdom was never lost—but it was nearly silenced. Colonization, fear, and stigma pushed these traditions underground. Entire cultures were dismissed, criminalized, and stripped of their healing practices.

And yet… the medicine endured.

Today, we’re witnessing a long-overdue course correction. Since the early 2000s, researchers at institutions like Johns Hopkins and NYU have been studying psychedelics for depression, anxiety, addiction, and end-of-life distress—often succeeding where conventional treatments have fallen short.

Unique Minds. Unique Journeys.
A trauma-informed, neurodivergent affirming approach to psilocybin assisted therapy — rooted in connection, intention, and deep reverence.

Just a Reminder: Psilocybin assisted therapy isn’t available legally in Colorado—yet. But when it is, I’ll be ready to guide you through deep, embodied healing tailored to your unique brain and nervous system.

In my practice, I work with neurodivergent individuals and those navigating complex trauma. If you’re neurodivergent (hi, same), your nervous system isn’t just wired differently. It experiences life differently.

You pick up on energy shifts, patterns, sensations, and subtleties that others miss. It’s not a flaw — it’s part of your brilliance.

And when it comes to psychedelics? That sensitivity can amplify the experience in both powerful and challenging ways. Sometimes, all it takes is a sound, a smell, a vibe shift — and boom, you’re in a whole new state of consciousness.

.

That kind of receptivity can make psychedelic journeys deeply immersive, even mystical. But it can also make it harder to stay grounded and connected to your body throughout the experience.

That’s where prep work matters.

Before we ever touch medicine, we’ll build trust together. We’ll practice staying present in your body. We'll create a space that feels supportive to your sensory system — because that can mean the difference between a transformational experience and one that's short-circuited by distracting input.

My approach is rooted in the belief that we heal through connection — to ourselves, to others, and to something greater.  When held with care, intention, and deep respect, psilocybin can help us access that connection in ways we often can't otherwise.

FAQs

Q: Where can I find psychedelic assisted therapy near me?

Short answer: it depends on where you live. Long answer: here in Colorado, we’re getting close. Licensed clinical facilitators (hi, that’ll be me soon!) will be able to offer psilocybin therapy once all the state regulations are finalized. If you want to be among the first to access it when the doors officially open, join the waitlist and I’ll keep you in the loop.

Q: Are psychedelics legal in Colorado?

Yes and no. Colorado has decriminalized psychedelics for personal use—so you won’t get arrested for having them — but regulated, licensed psychedelic therapy is still in the works. The state is rolling out a legal framework for psilocybin assisted therapy, and those sessions (the kind that happen with a trained facilitator in a safe, structured setting) are expected to launch later this year.

Q: What does it cost?

We’re not quite at the pricing stage yet — this work isn’t officially available in Colorado just yet — but here’s what I can tell you: prep and integration sessions may be eligible for insurance, but psychedelic sessions won’t be. When the time comes, I’ll offer a sliding scale to make this work more accessible, because healing shouldn’t be a luxury.

Q: What is psychedelic assisted therapy like?

Imagine a space where you can safely explore your inner world with a guide by your side. A typical session involves working with a trained facilitator (like me, when the time comes) in a safe, supportive setting. We’ll use psilocybin as a tool to help you access insights, shift patterns, and move through stuck emotions. The real magic often happens before and after the journey, which is why we’ll have prep sessions to get grounded and integration sessions to make sense of what came up — so you can bring those breakthroughs into your everyday life.
